The EDF Energy Intermediate Cup is shaping up nicely for the semi-finals after Saturday's games.
Chester cruised to a 56-5 win over Basingstoke but it was not so easy for the other home victors in the EDF Energy Intermediate Cup quarter-finals. Just two points separated Newport and Middlesbrough, with Newport eventually going through 23-21. Bracknell won away 13-22 at Old Albanians, with Birkenhead Park gwinning 12-23 at Staines.
