Robin Sowden-Taylor's late try clinched a fine 14-6 victory at the Recreation Ground and Young was left to delight in a fine all-round display.
He said: "We knew it would be a challenge and that we would have to be at the top of our game.
"We did the basics well tonight and started really well too."
Young added: "It was nice to get the try to finish it off especially on a wet night like tonight. We teach them to play heads up rugby and they saw the space and went for it."
Bath head coach Steve Meehan was far from pleased at seeing his side surrender an unbeaten home record going back more than a year.
He said: "The players are very upset - they realise as a group that they let themselves down and we are very disappointed to give up our home record in such a manner.
"We were certainly flat. We didn't get off our line in defence to make life difficult for Cardiff and didn't put them under enough pressure."
Bath struggled to get to grips with referee Nigel Owen's interpretation at the breakdown and Meehan said: "We didn't adapt to the referee whereas they did well in the tackle area and slowed our ball down." |
